Marjory Marie Tobert

Marjory Hirst Tobert born Aug. 31, 1927 in Sheridan Wy. Died on April 17, 2012 at the Huckleberry Retirement Home in Priest River, ID after a fight with cancer. Marjory started school in the Priest River area school house on the Peninsula grades 1st - 4th, then to the old Megan School; 5th – 8th grade. She graduated High School from Priest River in 1945. Marjory then studied nursing at W.S.U. in Pullman, then St. Luke’s in Spokane where she graduated in 1948 as an R.N. She worked at Newport Hospital and as a county nurse for Pend Oreille County, later at St. Luke’s and the Shriner’s hospitals in Spokane Wa. Marjory Hirst married Albert Tobert on Dec. 5, 1960. They had two sons; Joel and Eric. She was a 4-H leader for nearly 30 years. She loved to help others; she was a foster parent, many were special needs children, she donated time to the Bonner County food bank and thrift store in Priest River, and to church missions. Survivors include her brother Peter Hirst, son’s Joel Tobert and Eric Tobert, her grandchildren Dylan Tobert, Conner Tobert, Randy Lynn Scruggs, a great-granddaughter Reya Dawn Scruggs, 12 nieces and nephews and many foster children. She was preceded in death by her husband Albert, and two of her brothers; David and Larry. She will be dearly missed by friends and family. A private family Graveside will be held Saturday, April 21 at 10 AM at the Evergreen Cemetery in Priest River with a public Memorial Service to follow at 3PM at the First Baptist Church 517 W. 2nd Street in Newport, WA.
